Welcome to the NWFA's Environmental Craftsmanship Award 2011 informational web site.
2011 Environmental Craftsmanship Award Contest

The Environmental Craftsmanship Award is a special recognition of a professionally installed
wood floor that most exhibits creative and responsible environmental stewardship in its methods
of installation, raw material sources and/or contribution to human well being in the indoor built
environment.
Judging for this special award will be conducted by the environmental design community, and will
conclude by the opening of the NWFA 2011 Convention in San Diego, CA, March 26 - 29, 2011. The judges will
review the entries and will choose the entry that most achieves the award criteria.
Because wood is a renewable resource and is environmentally friendly, all floors entered into the
Wood Floor of the Year Contest are eligible for this award. However, since the NWFA is interested
in getting out the positive environmental message about wood floors to professionals beyond our
industry, we ask that you please fill out the entry form provided in order to give the judges
specific environmental information about your floor. The form includes criteria based on the
USGBC's LEED format, which is the most familiar environmental evaluation standard for architects
and other design professionals. We have also included information necessary to comply with the
US Lacey Act and the NWFA Responsible Procurement Program.
Simply check the boxes on the form that apply to your floor. You also may provide a brief written
description of why your floor is environmentally responsible. The purpose of the information
request is to assist the judges in determining the most deserving candidate for this special
recognition.
